# Data Rules

**Data Rules** help mask a specific type of data. Use these rules to hide sensitive information such as Credit cards, Emails, and others while keeping its structure the same as the original.

To create a data rule,

* Click **Create a new rule** under **Data Rules**.
* Name the data rule and select the type of masking. To create a custom data rule, select Custom," set the rule pattern, and save.
